🥔 About Potato Capital
Potato Capital Research is the research arm of a private family office and privately managed investment operation focused on U.S. and Canadian equities, macro, and derivatives.
We publish research from the standpoint of capital allocation, not content production. The objective is not to comment on markets for the sake of commentary. It is to study businesses, valuation, credit, market structure, and macro regime with the level of discipline required when real capital is at risk.
Our work is grounded in an underwriting process. We care about cash-flow quality, returns on capital, balance-sheet risk, capital allocation, incentives, and what is already priced in. We also take narrative seriously, because narrative moves markets. The difference is that we do not stop at the story. We test it against the numbers, the balance sheet, and the path required for the thesis to work.
Potato Capital is organized around three areas of focus.
Macro Desk
Our macro work covers liquidity, rates, inflation, policy, volatility, credit conditions, and cross-asset regime shifts. It is published freely because it is broad, foundational research and part of how we frame the world. It is not lower-grade work. The standard is the same.
Equity Desk
Our equity research is built around company-specific underwriting. We focus on business quality, unit economics, capital allocation, credit, valuation, expectations, and scenario analysis. The goal is straightforward: determine what a business is worth, what the market is pricing in, and what would change the view.
Derivatives Desk
Our derivatives work focuses on volatility, structure, and payoff design. We look for cases where options express a view more cleanly than common equity, especially when path, asymmetry, or event risk matter as much as direction.
Free and paid access differ by scope, depth, timeliness, and proprietary detail, not by rigor. Free macro work remains serious desk-quality research. Paid members receive the narrower, more labor-intensive work: full equity underwriting, deeper valuation frameworks, and derivatives analysis with clearer implementation detail.
Potato Capital Research is written for serious investors, private capital, and self-directed allocators who want more than recycled market commentary. The standard is simple: every piece of work should be clear, honest, numerically grounded, and useful in a real investment process.
We are not open to outside capital. This site exists to publish research produced from a private-capital perspective and held to that standard.
Everything published by Potato Capital Research is for research and educational purposes only. Nothing on this site is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security.
